We all know that Austin and the Central Texas community is growing…and where there is growth, there is change too. This is why public television, and specifically KLRU, has an ever increasingly important role to play in our community.
So many people are moving here from around the country and around the world and they don’t have roots in Central Texas. They don’t understand the art and culture of the area or the politics and current affairs. KLRU helps build context by offering a place to explore big issues facing Central Texas, by providing insight into the lifestyles and cultures of our region and by celebrating the rich creative community that makes our city so vibrant.
Last June, my wife, Claire, and I supported KLRU with a matching gift promise during the transformational 5-day online giving drive, #YourKLRU. We were delighted to hear of the resounding success of this campaign and the role it has since played in helping KLRU make some important changes to their fundraising efforts.
